Oral medicine
Diseases of the oral mucosa, soft tissue and salivary glands.
Oral medicine is the specialism of the soft tissues of the mouth — the mucosa lining the cheeks, lips, palate and tongue, the salivary glands, and the soft-tissue conditions that affect them. We diagnose and manage chronic conditions, suspicious lesions, ulcers that won't heal, and the systemic conditions that present in the mouth first.
Oral ulcers
Persistent or unusual mouth ulcers — investigation, diagnosis, and management of recurrent or non-healing cases.
Oral lichen planus
Chronic immune-mediated oral conditions including lichen planus, pemphigoid and related mucosal disorders.
Oral cancer screening
Specialist examination for early signs of oral cancer and potentially malignant disorders of the mouth.
Dry mouth
Investigation and management of xerostomia, including drug-induced dry mouth and salivary gland dysfunction.
Oral biopsy
Diagnostic biopsy of suspicious oral lesions, with laboratory analysis and follow-up care.

Specialist care
Personalised treatment in a calm, specialist environment.
How we work
Diagnostic depth, then a clear plan.
Many oral medicine conditions look similar on first inspection — a white patch can be a dozen different things, and a non-healing ulcer can be benign or the first sign of something serious. A specialist consultation gives you a thorough examination, the right diagnostic tests, and a treatment plan written in plain language. We work in close collaboration with your general dentist and, where appropriate, your physician.
