Oral hygiene & maintenance
Treatment gets you stable. Maintenance keeps you there.
After active periodontal treatment, long-term stability depends on structured maintenance, good home care, and collaboration with your general dentist. It is the single most important thing you can do to keep your teeth.
Why maintenance matters
Periodontitis is managed, not cured. The bacteria that caused it are still present, and without regular, specialised cleaning below the gum line the disease can re-activate. Periodontal maintenance is not the same as a routine scale-and-polish — it is a clinical review and a targeted clean of the sites that need it, at an interval matched to your risk.
How often
Recall intervals are set to your individual risk:
| Low risk | Every 6 months |
| Moderate risk | Every 4 months |
| High risk | Every 3 months |
| Active disease | A custom specialist plan |

What each visit includes
- A clinical review — pocket depths re-measured, sites compared to last time.
- Targeted cleaning of the sites that need it, below the gum line.
- Home-care coaching tailored to where you are actually struggling.
- Your next visit booked before you leave, and your dentist kept informed.
Home care
Most of the work happens between visits, at home. Where it helps, we recommend specific tools — the right toothbrush, interdental brushes sized to your spaces, and a technique that suits your hands and your mouth. Any product recommendation is clinical home-care support tied to a specific need, demonstrated properly — not a retail up-sell.
