About the practice

A specialist practice, in partnership.

Dr Christa Blignaut and Dr Leande Kotze both trained as specialists in periodontics and oral medicine, and both ran independent practices in Pretoria before joining at the Mendelssohn building in Pretoria East.

The partnership

Two specialists, the same building, a shared way of working.

Specialist periodontists are rare in South Africa. Specialist periodontists who also formally cover oral medicine are rarer still. Both doctors trained in both disciplines — a four-year full-time programme — and both spent years building solo practices before deciding it made more sense to share a roof.

The partnership is structural, not branded. Each doctor still sees her own patients, keeps her own relationships with referring dentists, and runs her own diary. What they share is a building, an oral hygiene team, a referral workflow, and the everyday clinical conversation that only happens when two specialists work next to each other.

For referring dentists, that means one practice for two parallel sets of cases. For patients, it means the person who diagnoses the problem is the person who treats it — and there is always a second specialist down the corridor for an opinion.

The practice

The Mendelssohn building, Pretoria East.

The practice occupies a suite on the first floor of a small medical building in Pretoria East. It's quieter than most dental practices — fewer chairs, longer appointments, two specialists instead of six general dentists.

On-site parking. A waiting area that doesn't try to look like a waiting area. The practice is not contracted with any medical aid — reception issues a detailed statement at checkout for you to submit to your scheme.

Our promise to you

When you come to us, this is what we commit to.

  1. We examine the whole mouth.

Not only the problem area you were referred for — every quadrant, every soft tissue surface.

  2. We give you a written treatment plan.

Findings, recommended treatment, alternatives, and an estimate. You leave with it on paper.

  3. We explain things in plain language.

Specialist vocabulary when it matters; everyday words for everything else. We don't rush.

  4. We send a clear summary to your referring dentist.

Within days of your consultation, so they know what we found and what we recommend.

  5. We return you to your dentist for ongoing care.

Specialist treatment is finite. We don't take over the rest of your dentistry.

  6. We are available for follow-up questions.

Not only at appointments. You can reach the practice if you're unsure about something we said.

  7. We keep your maintenance on schedule.

After active treatment, structured recall is what holds the result. Our hygiene team carries it.
