Fees & medical aid

Clear about cost, before you book.

We publish our consultation fee openly so you know the cost before you arrive. Most specialist practices do not — we think you should be able to plan.

Fees are current at the last review and may change. The figure that applies on the day is the figure stated at reception — please phone to confirm before booking.

What the consultation includes

  • A full clinical examination of the gums, bone support, soft tissues, and bite.
  • Periodontal pocket charting where indicated.
  • Intra-oral photographs of any clinically significant findings.
  • A written clinical report sent to you and your referring dentist.
  • An itemised written treatment estimate when treatment is indicated.

The consultation fee does not include x-rays. If you bring recent x-rays from your dentist (digital is best), we use those rather than repeat them.

Medical aid

The practice is not contracted in with medical-aid schemes. You settle the account at the practice, and reception issues an itemised statement with the procedure and ICD-10 codes your scheme recognises, so you can submit it for reimbursement. Whether — and how much — your scheme refunds depends on your plan and available benefits.

Paying

We accept cash, debit card, credit card, and EFT. Payment is taken at reception when the consultation ends. For treatment that follows, payment plans are available on request and agreed in writing before treatment starts.

If the cost is a barrier

The cost of a specialist consultation is real. Public-sector specialist dental clinics at academic dental hospitals run periodontics and oral-medicine clinics at significantly reduced cost, with longer waiting lists. If you are unsure whether a specialist visit makes sense for your situation, phone the practice and we will talk it through.

At the practice

Reception issues a detailed statement at checkout.

The statement carries the procedure and ICD-10 codes your scheme needs so you can submit for reimbursement directly. We can also advise on what to expect from most major plans.
